When I revisited the Gilchrist house, I immediately knew something was wrong. The couple bickered non-stop. Leland was flat-out Mean, and Winona was taking none of his plum. Maybe this is why Winona has looked Sad around the community?
Winona had a certain favorite whim of mine in her panel, so I thought perhaps a baby would bring them closer together. The first try failed, after which Leland rolled the whim. That failed as well, and immediately after taking the pregnancy test, Winona rolled Try for Baby again. Third time’s the charm! As I thought it might, the baby really did bring them closer together. Leland softened up a bit and Winona started spend less time skilling and more time with the hubby.
Leland’s been making a lot of progress in his Chief of Mischief aspiration; he’s currently on the last milestone. It also helps that he’s targeted a few townies to take out his Mean actions on, so he isn’t using them as much around the house. (Leland lost that fight, for the record.)
Finally, the first couple of the entire rotation has their first baby — a boy named Nikolas (randomly rolled — it kind of fits Leland’s side of the family). His name might be from Leland, but Winona’s coloring is certainly dominant! He gained the Creative trait after his mother, and the Rambunctious Scamp aspiration (I think it’s safe to say he takes that after his father).
Three people in a one-bedroom house just wasn’t going to work very well, so the family moved to a double-wide three bedroom, three bathroom trailer next door. They’ll be keeping the old house as a criminal hide-out/safe house, because it’s full of Leland’s criminal career reward objects. overview This house is a larger, updated version of their old house. This kitchen/living room/dining room combo is quite possible one of my favorite starter “great rooms”! master bedroom Nikolas’ room
He’s ADORABLE! He’s a really good mix too, I think. He has his mother’s exact skin tone and hair color. His eye color is one shade darker of blue than his father’s, and I think his eye shape is his father’s. His nose is his mother’s, and I think his lips are a variation of his father’s. I’m not completely sure, but I think he has his mother’s face shape and jawline with his father’s cheekbones?Bonus: Look at his adorable self-chosen party outfit! omg ❤
The second founding couple of my #RebuildWillowCreek Rotation is the Asian female | Black male combination, Tyrone and Mei Jackson. Ty’s always wanted to be in the limelight, and what light is limer than a devastated, crawling-with-journalists Willow Creek, ready for him to take it by storm? (Whoops–too soon?) With the help of his publicist and wife, Mei, he’s moving in and moving up — straight to the top, baby! Everybody’s gonna know the name “Young Simoleon”…eventually. His traits are Music Lover, Creative, and Bro. His aspiration is Musical Genius and he has joined the Entertainer career, aiming for the Musician branch. I ain’t sayin’ she’s a gold digger, but she ain’t messin’ with no broke-de-broke. Mei is Tyrone aka Young Simoleon’s manager, publicist, wife, and just about everything else — but she isn’t limiting her options. Sure, she might have to have a baby or two to tie herself to his money, but she’s got plans of her own. Someday, she’s going to have the biggest Record Company in the business. Her traits are Ambitious, Genius, and Romantic. Her aspiration is Fabulously Wealthy, and she is in the Business career aiming for the Investor branch. The couple lives in a large modern mansion on the lot Cypress Terrace. It features a gorgeous outdoor entertaining area, two huge bedrooms, and extremely expensive furnishings. That smoulder. I’m not gonna lie, I have a serious Simcrush on
Young Simoleon Tyrone. Mei must think he’s pretty great too, because she rolled a Try for Baby whim the first night! Not something I was expecting, but I’ll oblige.Poor baby! She’s the first Sim I’ve had fail to conceive in a looong time, the animations were hard to watch. 😦I felt so bad, I had them try again before they went to bed. Whew! Baby is on the way, and Mei is happy again. The pregnancy really flew by. This couple is really career-oriented, so I focused more on their careers than the pregnancy progression. Ty reached level 4 in piano, 3 in guitar, and 2 in mixology (autonomously, I might add. Lol, bros), and got promoted once.Mei reached level 4 in charisma, 3 in logic, and got promoted twice. She flies through her paperwork at night in about half an hour — something I haven’t seen while playing a Business Sim before! I’m not sure if it’s due to her Genius trait or Business Savvy. Now, as much as I would like to pretend that everything was sunshine and rainbows in this household, it wasn’t. Ty stressed Mei out to no end by continuously catching the kitchen on fire. And towards the end of the pregnancy, Mei really struggled with her bladder. I swear I tried to get her to the bathroom in time… “Get this plumming creature out of me before it destroys my bladder permanently!”After a nice bath, it was baby time. I sent her to the hospital, as there is no nursery in the house. Of course, hoping for a girl, I got……a boy. Well, I guess I’m not glitched! (I’m keeping the bedroom the same. Screw gender stereotypes; the room is pretty.) Welcome to the fam, Marlon Jackson. He aged up with the Artist Prodigy aspiration and Mean trait. Time for some cute kid spam!
Apparently Ty decided he didn’t want that little plum for an heir to his musical legacy, and hopped in the sack to make another.Victory. Let’s hope this one turns out better. “Nah, I ain’t crying. Just got some happiness in my eye.” Pregnancy farts. Omfg. Janae stopped by one weekend! She and Ty were already friends, but she actually spent more time with her mom’s long-time friend, Mei! I love how close these two families are. Get it, girls!Janae is seriously so beautiful. Hopefully Mei’s baby girl will be just as beautiful! — That’s right, I influenced her pregnancy to get a girl. I think Ty needs a little princess to spoil. Before long, Mei went into labor. Time for the moment of truth…did the influencing work?It did! Mei had a baby girl and named her Victoria Jackson. “Prepare yo’self for da best storytelling of yo life.” Vicky aged up to be the first Whiz Kid in the save! She also gained the Music Lover trait like her father.
When it was time to throw Marlon’s birthday party, all hell broke loose. Marlon picked a fight with Leland, Vicky was in a really sad mood from school, and Ty came down sick with gas-n-giggles. It was up to Mei to save the day by baking the birthday cake, and with absolutely no cooking skill, she burnt down half of the kitchen. Mei: “I ruined the party…”
Everyone: “Yeah, you did.”Ty baked up a quick cake, and at the very last moment, Marlon aged up. Somehow, we managed to snag a gold party rating. He gained the Outgoing trait and Party Animal aspiration. Should be…fun?
*The original line is from Candlelight by E-40, “Karma ‘a catchup wit yo past (wit yo past), llamas ‘a split yo house in half.”
The second founding couple of my #RebuildWillowCreek Rotation is the White female | Pacific Islander male combination, Charley and Hakumele Ho’opi’i.Haku Ho’opi’i is a laid-back, fun-loving beach bum. He relocated to Newcrest after Hurricane Mortimer destroyed his island home, where he met his wife-to-be, Charley. They ran away to Willow Creek to escape Charley’s controlling parents. His traits are Cheerful, Loner, and Loves Outdoors. His aspiration is Master Mixologist, and he has joined the Culinary career, aiming for the correlating Mixologist branch.Charley was born and raised in the quiet town of Newcrest, constantly under the close supervision of her over-protective, controlling parents. She was the picture-perfect child: perfect grades, perfect attitude, perfect everything. As she got older, a spark of rebellion and resentment grew, and eventually she saw her escape in her now-husband, Hakumele. Her traits are Perfectionist, Loner, and Creative. Her aspiration is Painter Extraordinaire, and she has joined the Painter career, aiming for the Master of the Real branch. The couple lives in a moderate beach front family home. It has an extreme open-concept, with no real distinction between indoors and out. Featuring three large bedrooms, the family has plenty of room to grow, which is something Charley is eager to do! Being an only child led Charley to be shy and somewhat socially awkward; she and Haku bonded over their similar living situations. Haku relates to her lonely childhood, but only because his siblings were much older than him and had already left the home. Charley immediately rolled a whim to Try for a Baby once the household loaded. She wants to start as soon as possible so she has plenty of time to have plenty of children; she doesn’t want her own kids to go through what she did. Once again, I was surprised at how affectionate this couple was straight out of CAS. Their first interaction — autonomous, at that — was a kiss. Seeing that they were “in the mood,” I figured there’s no time like the present and sent them off for some hot tub fun. The backyard is bigger than the house itself, which was done purposefully, due to the couple’s “outdoor-loving hippie” vibe. It’s definitely the busiest part of the house; most of their food is grilled, all meals are eaten at the bar (despite having a perfectly good indoor eating space), and the hot tub is the romance hot spot. I knew I would like this couple — I loved their hippie vibe — but I wasn’t expecting to love them this much. Finally out from under her parents’ thumb, she’s letting her rebellious side run wild; she always has a sassy smirk on her face, as if she’s challenging someone–anyone–the world. Haku has a much more laid-back, chill attitude, preferring hugs and cheek kisses to more passionate forms of affection. The wildest he gets is in the kitchen, accidentally dropping a bowl of lettuce everywhere. Toilet confetti! We all know what that means… Again, so chill about everything. So happy, no worries. “Okay, maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.” A sad-looking Winona trudged by the house later that day. Perhaps she’s a bit bitter over the fact that she didn’t get to have the first baby? Mei also stopped by — she was super excited for the expecting couple. When the morning sickness so bad you fly to the bathroom… Looks like someone’s had a change of heart! Ah, family Sims.Okay, so… still bitter. So much for being so chill all the time. Haku completed flipped out when Charley went into labor. Meet the first baby of the entire save, Janae Ho’op’i! Her name was rolled randomly, and I love it! Seems perfect for a half-White, half-Pacific Islander.“She looks like me!” Yes, she is the spitting image of Haku. I aged her up immediately, as per my aging rules.* She gained the Geek trait and Social Butterfly aspiration. Naturally, the first order of business was to make some friends. Who better than our local Insane criminal?!Maybe that wasn’t the best idea. She’s a total daddy’s girl. They became BFF’s in just one day!But she loves mommy too; they get to spend mother-daughter time when Haku’s at work. Being a Geek, Janae loves exploring Willow Creek and bringing home all kinds of stuff she finds. Also, I’ve never seen this part of Willow Creek before! It’s beautiful! Now…if only I could get her to bed at a reasonable time… (I accidentally had her collecting til 4AM…on a school night. Bad parent alert.)Here’s her bedroom, kind of geeky, kind of tomboyish. Her friends seem to approve! At this point, she completed her Social Butterfly aspiration and had an A in school! Time to age up soon…“Look, dinoslut. She’s mine, got that??? MINE!” I think her little redheaded friend has a crush on her; he’s really clingy and…possessive?
Guess who had another Try for Baby whim? And baby #2 is on the way! (Haku’s acting all chill again. We’ll see how long that lasts.)Janae’s excited to be a big sister! But she’s also enjoying her last days as an only child.Mei, unlike other Sims we know, is super excited for Charley.
They’re so cute together! I guess opposites do attract.
We threw a little party for Janae, so she would be the center of attention before the baby arrived. She gained the Art Lover trait and Best-selling Author aspiration. I love the combination — Art Lover will help get her inspired, and I enjoy the author aspiration in general. Yup, I knew he’d lose his cool eventually. Welcome baby Lilian to the family! (It was at this point I starting worrying about getting a girls-only-glitch, because I actually influenced the pregnancy to get a boy…hm.) Lilian acquired the Good trait and Social Butterfly aspiration like her sister. Gotta go make some friends for that aspiration!
Goals for next time I play:
Haku: complete aspiration then age up
Charley: complete aspiration then age up, get pregnant again if a whim is rolled (I want her to have two more children — boys)
Janae: get an A in school, max the Barista career, complete the first milestone of her aspiration then age up
Lilian: get an A in school, complete aspiration then age up
Janae’s skin tone is half way between her parents’; she has her mother’s face shape and hair color, and she has her father’s cheekbones, eye shape and color, nose, and mouth.
Aging Off for everyone, played and non-played.
Babies age up immediately.
Children age up after completing their randomly rolled aspiration and earning an A in school.
Teens age up after reaching level three in a teen career and earning an A in school.
Young Adults age up after completing their randomly rolled aspiration and reaching level five in a career.
Adults age up after have at least two children and reaching level ten in a career.
Elders will live forever in autonomous peace, residing in retirement homes in Newcrest and Oasis Springs.
I’ve decided to participate in OJenn’s #RebuildWillowCreek genetics challenge! As per the rules, I’ve (I mean, Hurricane Mortimer has) destroyed Willow Creek, and I’ve created my founding couple (one of four, actually — but more on that later!): Native American female | white male, Winona and Leland Gilchrist.
Leland Gilchrist is a descendant of a long line of notorious Scandinavian pirates. His appearance is class: blonde hair and blue eyes. His “dark” personality shines through in his clothing choices and body art (two tattoos and some eyeshadow). His traits are Genius, Insane, and Self-assured. He has the Chief of Mischief aspiration and has joined the Criminal career, aiming for the Boss branch.Winona Gilchrist, formerly Littlefeather, has roots in Willow Creek that trace back farther than any other family; her ancestors lived in the area long before it became known as “Willow Creek.” She has a ruddy complexion, and her vibrant red hair emphasizes it. Her traits are Creative, Family-oriented, and Self-assured. She has the Renaissance Sim aspiration and is a career-hopper, currently working through the Scientist career. They have a modest trailer home in a lower-end side of town; the town industrial yard and junk yard is their backyard. Being so close to work, Leland loves their home, but Winona wishes to expand their family. With only one bedroom and one bathroom, they are already cramped. (Build tour is here.)I hadn’t played a married-in-CAS couple until this challenge, and I was pleasantly surprised to see these two get along so well. There wasn’t any awkwardness or tension, and their relationship bars maxed-out quickly (as in, under one Sim-hour quickly). They’re always autonomously flirting when they’re in the same room!I’m also pleasantly surprised by their “intelligence” — I’m used to the dumb, “dying-because-they-won’t-fill-their-hunger-meter” straight-out-of-CAS Sims. When I’m not micromanaging them, both Win and Lee (usually) choose activities that apply to their careers/aspirations! Lee spends a lot of time reading and trolling teh forums; Win prefers watching the cooking channel and painting (Abstract style is her favorite).
They play off of each other’s confidence so well — I think that’s what makes them such a good couple. Suave kisses are usually their version of “good morning,” Winona loves showing off her (nonexistant) muscles, and Lee tells the best Unbelievable Stories. They both roll whims to “win a card game” often, and it’s hilarious watching their (awful) poker faces (while building logic! Bonus!).After a few Sim-weeks of gameplay, Lee had achieved level five of his career and builds mischief really quickly. I only recently switched his aspiration from Successful Lineage to Chief of Mischief, so he hasn’t made any progress on it (he hadn’t made any progress on the other aspiration either — this couple is focusing on their careers and aspirations for awhile before having a family). He only has one friend aside from Winona (he is a bit socially impaired, being an Insane criminal and all). Watson takes his mischief in stride; being a Good Sim, he’s just happy that Leland’s happy. They’re a good pair. (And thankfully no one else lives in this neighborhood.)Winona is doing amazingly well in her aspiration; she’s already on the third milestone. The only thing holding her back is her career. I’m trying to reach level 4 in the Scientist career to get the chem lab for logic-building purposes; she should achieve that next time I play them, then she’ll switch to the Culinary career.
Goals for the next time I play:
Leland: complete the first three milestones of his aspiration, achieve level 6 in the Criminal career and choose the Boss branch
Winona: complete the third milestone of her aspiration, achieve level 3 in the Culinary career, get pregnant if a Try for Baby whim is rolled
